I think I may be able to answer your question. When I first read your question I thought your coin could be a silver eagle but I know it is not because they were first minted in 1986 and you stated that your coin was from Canada. I believe your coin is a bullion coin from Canada .Your coin's value depends on how many coins were minted and the price of silver.Silver eagle's from the 1980's have values of around $ 14.00. If you have a coin dealer in your area I am sure he could give you some information about your coin. I hope this helps answer your question.

It’s a 1 ounce silver bullion round issued by the Royal Canadian Mint for Monex International Ltd in 1982. It’s still worth bullion to investors and traders, and bullion+ among collectors. Bullion value for an ounce of silver is around $ 13.50 for the past few days.

It sounds like more of a medal than a coin since there is no denomination. Canada did not start it’s bullion program until 1988 and it has a denomination on it. You have what we call here in the States as a silver round, which is a .999 one ounce silver medal with all kinds of motifs on the obverse as well as reverse. If it is a mint medal, put Canadian Royal Mint into google and get their site and ask them. It also could be a private item from French Canada they wanted their own country I think back about then. Hope I pointed you in the right direction. I can not find it in any of the books I have on Canadian coins.
