Two Up
While most folks seem to be mad for gold Silver has been steadily growing in value .
Although Silver has not grown at the same rate as gold it will probably continue growing in value.
One investor tried to corner the market in silver but was eventually foiled .
Two Up is a game ...
Well if you are in Australia its a bit more serious than that.
A group of men gather around the player.
He is called The Spinner
Traditionally Two Up is played with two pennies.
(The Penny is roughly the same weight on each side and this gives more even play.)
Each person in the group takes it in turn to be the Spinner.
The Spinner holds a piece of wood (The KIP) on which are placed the two coins - on head side up the other tail side up..
The object of the game is to try to flip the coins in the air and get them both to land the same (either heads or tails)
The third option is Odds also call One Them (one coin lands face up and one face down).
The game is run by The Boxer (roughly equivalent to a Pit Boss in Las Vegas)
A Ringkeeper (also called the Ringy) looks after the coins before and after the toss to avoid cheating by players or spectators.
Spectators and player bet on the likely outcome of the Toss.
Two Heads as a result means that the Spinner Wins.
Two Tails means he loses.
Odds means he has to throw again.
There are variations including a run of heads.
The game is now legal in some Australian Casinos where serious amounts are wagered.
(It is traditional in some Australian Cities for a young man to arrive at the casino in a stretched limousine - especially on his stag party !)
Two Up is known to have been played enthusiastically by Ballarat and othe Australian Gold Miners.
