Half Sovereign Gold Coins

The British Half Sovereign Gold Coins are some of the most beautiful of the British Gold Coins.

My particular favourites are the Young Head Queen Victoria coins and I always wonder whose hands they have been through since Victorian times.

Apart from being legal tender in Britain the half sovereign was also in common use in British colonies including Australia (where it was the first official currency in use),

The half sovereign was very popular in Australia and all 3 of the Australian mints themselves struck half sovereign coins.
